In April 2007 Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust initiated an independent fundraising plan to help the people of Hertfordshire finance a life-saving Air Ambulance.
In April 2008, thanks to the people of Hertfordshire the Appeal smashed its £250,000 target and plans were put in place to secure a dedicated Air Ambulance helicopter.
The very first Herts Air Ambulance was launched on 5th November 2008!
The aircraft operates 5 days a week and carries an Accident and Emergency qualified Doctor and Paramedic.
It will take ongoing effort to keep the Air Ambulance airborne for the future:-
Maintaining the life-saving helicopter will cost around £130,000 per month to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations.
